Hours of use: The Coal Creek OHV Area is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
As of 05/16/08, Coal Creek will no longer allow primitive camping or RV camping anywhere on their property except at their campground - Windrock Park.

Land Use Permits: A Land use permit is required for each person entering the Coal Creek OHV Area.
Cost for the permits are as follows:
$17.00 Daily permit
$33.00 Two day permit
$44.00 Three day permit
$55.00 Four day permit
$88.00 Yearly permit
Each person, no matter their age or activity, must have a permit. Each person entering the area is required to have their permit along with the pink copy of their permit with them at all times while on the property.
Land Use Permits can be purchased at the The Snack Shack located at the trail head. They will be selling permits from 7:00am until 6:00pm or close. They also have trail maps and other Coal Creek OHV Area merchandise. The Snack Shack can reached at (865) 435-6971.
Trail Maps: Are available at the trail head
Types of vehicles allowed: Just about any type of off road vehicle is welcome, here are some that frequent the area. ATV's, Motorcycles, Jeeps, Trucks, Hybrid Trucks, Hummers, Rail Buggies.
Safety Equipment: It is up to the rider to choose and provide their own safety equipment. A common question is "are helmets required". The answer is YES if you are under 18 years of age. If you are 18 or older then you have the choice to wear one or not, it is up to you to choose. Due to the mountainous terrain, helmets, pads, and heavy duty boots and clothing are highly recommended.
The area is open 365 days a year.
A Land Use Permit is required to access the area.
Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the area.
The OHV area is open to everyone, there is no membership required.
Trails range from gravel roads to extreme mountainous terrain. Easy trails include gravel roads and hard packed clay trails with few if any challenges.
Most trails are rated "moderate" and include mud, small rocks and small hill climbs. The more "difficult" rated trails will include off cambers, tougher hill climbs, rocks, mud and should only be attempted by experienced riders.
There are over 160+ miles of trails now open in the area. All trails are marked with a trail number, degree of difficulty and vehicles allowed on the trail. Some trails are restricted to ATV and Motorcycle use only.
There are plenty of different trails for all types of vehicles and adrenaline levels. There is also beautiful mountain scenery around every corner.
To access the OHV area you are required to have a Land Use Permit. Each person entering the area, regardless of age or activity must possess a land use permit while using the OHV area.
